TuitionChoice Privacy Policy

1. Introduction:

TuitionChoice, LP (“TuitionChoice”) believes your right to privacy is serious, and we want you to feel comfortable registering for and using our services. This privacy policy deals with your account registration data and all personally-identifiable information (referred to as “Information” below) that will or could be collected by TuitionChoice. Please take time to read this Privacy Policy so you can understand how we use your Information. Additionally, please make sure you read our Terms and Conditions of use which govern your use of TuitionChoice. Please remember that if you register with TuitionChoice and/or provide any Information to us, you agree to the terms contained in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect:

A. Account Information:

In order to register for an account with TuitionChoice, we will require your full name, the name of the school you attend, a personal ID number (preferably the ID number used by your school), your phone number, your year in school, an e-mail address, and a password. TuitionChoice will create and assign you a User ID from the information you enter. Your Account Information will also record whether or not you have submitted any loan applications to Lenders through TuitionChoice.

Please be aware that the e-mail address you provide and the other information you enter to create your account may render you personally identifiable, and may be displayed to the public intentionally (please see “How We Use Personal Information” below) or unintentionally (subsequent to a successful act of intrusion by a third party). We may choose to automatically receive general information that is contained in server log files, such as your IP address and cookie information. This Application Information will be retained on TuitionChoice’s computer systems and will be accessible to TuitionChoice personnel and others, as described below.

B. Application Information:

Once you create an account with TuitionChoice, you may use the TuitionChoice desktop program to submit student loan applications to Lenders. Your loan application is created and stored on your own personal computer, and is not stored on TuitionChoice’s computers or servers. Your loan application file is automatically encrypted by the TuitionChoice program. It may only be opened or accessed by someone who knows the proper User ID and Password, so it is important that you keep that those private. When you fill out the loan application, you will be asked to enter the following Application Information:

1. Full Name
2. Addresses
3. Email Addresses
4. School,Year,Degree,GPA
5. Loan Amount
6. Academic start and end dates
7. Social Security Number
8. Drivers License Number and state
9. Information on current income
10. Information on current expenses (e.g. rent or mortgage payments)
11. Adult references with contact information
12. Co-signer information with all the same fields as the Borrower

All of this Application Information is stored in the encrypted application file on your own computer. TuitionChoice will not store any of this Application Information on its computers.

C. Cookies:

When you visit TuitionChoice, we may send one or more cookies—small files containing a string of characters—to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends. In addition, advertisements may be displayed on the Site and, if so, may set and access cookies on your computer. Such cookies are subject to the privacy policy of the parties providing each advertisement. Most internet browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

3. How We Will Share Your Personal Information:

TuitionChoice will undertake reasonable efforts to prevent your Information from being disclosed to third parties unless the disclosure is: (i) provided for in this Privacy Policy; (ii) made after your consent is obtained; (iii) pursuant to legal action or law enforcement, such as a court order to subpoena, (iv) deemed necessary by us to protect the business interests, legal rights, and/or property of TuitionChoice; or (v) it is found that your use of this site violates the Terms and Conditions of use policy or other usage guidelines of TuitionChoice. Your Account Information and Application Information will be used for the following purposes and disclosed to the following parties.

A. Account Information:

TuitionChoice will make your Account Information available to certain third parties. In particular, the financial aid office or director for your school will be able to use the school name and student ID number you provide to check whether you have applied for loans using TuitionChoice. TuitionChoice will not provide your Application Information to any other parties, or use your Application Information for any other purpose.

B. Application Information:

When you use the TuitionChoice program to submit your loan application, the encrypted application file is transferred from your computer to our servers. Our servers use a master security token to open and repackage your application into the format expected by each Lender, and then forward the application(s) to each Lender’s computer system. Your application file remains on TuitionChoice’s computers only long enough for the repackaging operation to take place, and is deleted after the applications are forwarded to the Lenders. TuitionChoice does not store your application on any server, and TuitionChoice personnel do not have access to the Application Information contained in your encrypted application file. Your Application Information will not be used for any other purpose or made available to any other parties.

4. Collection Of Information By Others:

TuitionChoice’s site may contain links to other web sites operated by third parties over which TuitionChoice has no control or responsibility (collectively the “Third Party Sites”). Such Third Party Sites may have information practices that are different from those described in this Privacy Policy. You should try to remain aware at all times of whose web site you are browsing. You should locate and read the privacy notices available on such Third Party Sites.

5. Supplementing Information:

From time to time TuitionChoice may supplement the Information you provide through our site with information from other sources, for example, information from the Postal Service that validates your address. As a result, the Information we obtain from you may be intermingled with and used in conjunction with information obtained from other sources, including both online and offline sources.

6. Discussion And Community Tools:

TuitionChoice may, from time to time, make chat rooms, forums, message boards, news groups, and other public community tools available on our site. Please remember that any Information that you post or otherwise disclose in those areas becomes public information for other people to read and for us to use. For example, from time to time, we may incorporate the content you write in those public areas (including your name or screen name) into advertisements, newsletters, and other promotional materials. By using TuitionChoice’s chat rooms, forums, message boards, news groups, and other public community tools, you agree that we may do so. You should exercise caution when posting any Information in any such areas because anyone may read and use publicly posted information.

7. Security Notice:

TuitionChoice has physical, electronic, and managerial policies and procedures in place in accordance with federal safeguards to prevent unauthorized access to, maintain the data security of, and ensure the correct utilization of the Information we collect through our site. However, no computer network or internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error-free. In particular, email sent to or from our site may not be secure. When your Information is passed on to Lenders.

8. Accessing, Correcting, Or Terminating Your Account:

If your Information changes, or if you no longer desire our services, you may correct, update, delete, or deactivate your account with us by emailing _______________________________ or by contacting us by postal mail at the address listed below.

9. Notice To Parents:

TuitionChoice’s site is intended for undergraduate and graduate college students and is not geared toward children. TuitionChoice will not knowingly accept any Information from anyone under thirteen years of age. 10. Changes To This Policy:

Because our business needs and technological capabilities may change over time, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions from this Privacy Policy at any time. If at any time in the future we plan to use Information in a way that differs from this Privacy Policy, we will revise this Privacy Policy to reflect such change and notify you of the change here, by email, or by a notice on our home page. Your continued use of the TuitionChoice site following a change means that you accept such change. Please review this Privacy Policy from time to time and before you provide any Information to this site.
